Story of the Stone

Peach and plum blossoms have been my subjects of creation in recent years. In between the crisscrossing branches bloom the plum flowers; dark and light shades, red and white dots, all in different layers--- they flow out of my mind and alight upon the stone.

Artist Profile

Born in 1959 Hong Kong, Terence Lee graduated with a Bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts from the California College of Arts in 1983 and set up a pottery/painting studio in Hong Kong in the following year teaching ceramics and painting since then. He had also taught at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, HKU SPACE, and Hong Kong Institute of Education of which the diploma course in Ceramics was organized by him. 

Lee is the founder chairman of the Contemporary Ceramic Society (Hong Kong), and author of “Ceramic Art- Practice and Appreciation”. His works have been featured in various joint and solo exhibitions and collected by Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Central Academy of Free Arts in Beijing, National Museum of Chinese History in Beijing as well as local and overseas collectors. 

He started to study the ceramic culture of Song Dynasty China and Japan in 1992 and founded Gitone Ltd. in 1995 to promote the combination of contemporary ceramic/painting art and life style.
